Editorial Policy & Fact-Checking
Our goal is simple: be the most accurate, useful and honest guide to Shark Tank products on the internet. Here's how we work.
What we publish
- Product pages record what happened on air: the ask, the offers, the final deal and the Sharks involved.
- Status updates say whether a company still appears to be operating, with the date we last checked.
- Rankings and gift guides are generated from our data and success score. No company can pay to be included or ranked higher.
- Guides and business ideas are educational articles that use real pitches as examples.
How we fact-check
- Deal data comes from public episode records and recaps, cross-referenced with other public sources. Where sources disagree, we go with the majority and note the difference on the product page.
- Every product, Shark and deal named in a guide must match a record in our database before it's published.
- Numbers in data callouts and on "Shark Tank by the numbers" are calculated live from the database, not typed by hand.
- Net worth figures for Sharks are third-party estimates. We name the source and date, and we don't present them as fact.
What we won't do
- Invent quotes, reviews or testimonials.
- Present on-air deals as final. Many change during due diligence, and we say so.
- Give personalized financial, legal or investment advice.
