Who is Matthew Hall?

Matthew Hall is a former athlete and co-founder of TRUFIT Customs, a Southern California company that makes custom sports mouthguards and other fitted products from 3D scans. He studied pre-med and psychology and started the business with his college friend Victor Adamo. Traditional custom mouthguards require dental impressions that often have to be repeated; TRUFIT instead uses a digital scan of the athlete's teeth, stores it in the cloud and 3D-prints guards on demand. The Arizona Cardinals became the company's first team client, and TRUFIT says its mouthguards have been worn by players in the NFL, NHL, NBA and college sports.

Sales grew from about $115,000 in 2022 to $750,000 in 2023. On the Season 16 premiere of Shark Tank, Hall asked for $750,000 for 5%, valuing the company at $15 million. Guest shark Rashaun Williams offered $750,000 for 10% plus a commitment to bring in 10 to 15 athletes as ambassadors or investors, and the founders accepted. TRUFIT later became the official mouthguard partner of USA Hockey and has added night guards, retainers and custom insoles.
