Who is Erik Diedrichsen?
Erik Diedrichsen worked in the trade show industry before he turned a backyard chore into a business. After moving his family from Boston to rural West Bridgewater, Massachusetts, the family started keeping a few chickens, and he grew frustrated with how much feed traditional feeders wasted and how they attracted rodents and wild birds. He sketched prototypes, designed a weatherproof feeder attachment, secured patents and launched Riverbend Resources in 2020 with his own money. The company's Poultry Pro Feeder and later Poultry Pro Waterer are designed to keep feed dry and pests out.
The products won first place for innovation at SUPERZOO and second place at Global Pet Expo, and after facing knockoffs online, he pushed into retail, landing Tractor Supply, Lowe's and farm chains such as Bomgaars, Atwoods and Runnings. Riverbend had about $3 million in lifetime sales when Diedrichsen pitched on Shark Tank in Season 16, asking for $300,000 for 10%. Daymond John offered $300,000 for 25%, Diedrichsen countered, and they agreed on 20%. The company sells online and through farm supply retailers.
