Who is Blaine Anderson?
Blaine Anderson started Dating by Blaine in Austin, Texas, in 2020, after losing her job during the pandemic. She found her first eight clients by messaging men directly on dating apps and built the business around coaching men on modern dating: improving profiles and photos, texting, and showing their value in writing. Revenue comes from one-on-one coaching, online courses on texting and dating apps, and master classes, with clients worldwide drawn largely through her Instagram and TikTok following of millions. By the time she pitched on Shark Tank Season 15 in October 2023, the company had done more than $2.2 million in cumulative sales, including about $1 million in 2022 revenue with roughly $500,000 in profit.
She asked $100,000 for 2% and said up front that she wanted Mark Cuban as her investor. With help from Barbara Corcoran in the negotiation, she agreed to $100,000 for 10% from Cuban. The deal did not close: Anderson later walked away, citing the complications of bringing on an outside investor, and she continues to run Dating by Blaine independently.
