Who is Sean Conway?

Sean Conway was born in San Diego and earned a bachelor's degree in entrepreneurship from the University of Arizona's Eller College of Management. As a student in 2008, he co-founded Notehall with D.J. Stephan, Justin Miller and Fadi Chalfoun, building a marketplace where students bought and sold lecture notes. It caught on quickly, reaching about 40% of the University of Arizona student body within eight months.

In 2009 the founders pitched on Shark Tank's first season and received a $90,000 offer from Barbara Corcoran, but they later declined it to join the DreamIt Ventures accelerator. Chegg acquired Notehall in June 2011 for about $3.7 million in equity. In 2013, Conway co-founded Airenvy, later renamed Pillow, which managed short-term rentals in multifamily buildings and raised $2.65 million. Expedia Group bought Pillow in 2018, and Conway stayed on at Expedia, where he became general manager of multifamily urban supply.
