What happened to The Lip Bar after Shark Tank?
Still in business Last checked October 3, 2026
Melissa Butler left Wall Street to build The Lip Bar, a vegan cosmetics brand she started in her Brooklyn apartment and later moved to Detroit. On Shark Tank in 2015 all five sharks turned her down and dismissed her bold lipstick colors as unmarketable. Butler has said the cruel reception still brought the brand a lot of exposure. In 2018 The Lip Bar launched in several hundred Target stores, which made it one of the show's best-known rejections that worked out anyway.
⚠️ The on-air deal did not close after the show.
