Who is Anna Stork?
Anna Stork earned a B.A. in engineering and studio art from Dartmouth College and worked in product development for the Department of Defense, building technology for soldiers in remote locations. She went on to Columbia University for a master's in architecture, where, after the 2010 Haiti earthquake, she and classmate Andrea Sreshta designed a lightweight inflatable solar lantern that ships flat and can be distributed in disaster zones. They launched LuminAID in 2011, crowdfunding early production with a buy-one, give-one model, and Stork was named a Kauffman Global Scholar in 2012. In 2015 the pair appeared on Shark Tank, received offers from all five sharks and took Mark Cuban's $200,000 for 15%.
LuminAID grew into a line of solar lanterns and phone-charging lights sold to outdoor shoppers and supplied to relief organizations after hurricanes and other disasters. Adventure Ready Brands acquired the company in November 2021. Stork is now a partner at Conifer Infrastructure, where she oversees investment evaluation and platform growth.
