Who is Bobby Edwards?
Bobby Edwards co-founded Utah-based Squatty Potty with his mother, Judy Edwards, and father, Bill Edwards. The family built the first version in their garage in 2010: a wooden footstool designed to sit at the base of a toilet. Bobby drove the early marketing by mailing free units to health bloggers, which led to coverage on The Dr. Oz Show and Howard Stern's radio show.
Squatty Potty reached Shark Tank in Season 6 on its second application; Lori Greiner invested $350,000, and the company reported $1 million in sales in the 24 hours after the episode. Bobby was a key voice behind the company's humor-led approach, including a $250,000 YouTube ad starring a unicorn that drew more than 100 million views. Annual sales grew from $17,000 in 2011 to about $19 million in 2015 and nearly $33 million in 2017, and the line expanded into related bathroom products. In May 2021, Aterian acquired the assets and business of Squatty Potty for about $24 million plus potential earnouts.
