Who is Carlo DiMeo?
Carlo DiMeo is a Boulder, Colorado, entrepreneur who turned a ski-slope gag into Wildcoat, a maker of faux-fur ski jackets designed to look like animals. A former software developer and gym owner, he had become known on the mountain for skiing in a bear costume, and in 2020 a friend suggested he turn that attention into a business. He and a co-founder put in about $185,000 to start the company. Wildcoat's roughly $460 jackets come in designs such as grizzly, polar bear, panda, wolf, buffalo and tiger, with seven pockets, detachable sleeves and mittens, and a helmet-compatible hood. After early reliance on Google and Facebook ads, the company shifted to in-person events at ski resorts in Colorado and Utah and at NFL stadiums.
Wildcoat had its first profitable year in 2024 on about $700,000 in revenue. On Shark Tank in Season 16, DiMeo asked for $350,000 for 10%. Robert Herjavec and Daymond John made matching offers, and he chose Herjavec, accepting $350,000 for 23%. He has projected about $2 million in 2025 sales and plans kids' sizes and new animal designs.
