Who is Smith Alan Baggett?
Smith Alan Baggett is a fourth-generation cattle rancher and auctioneer from Pulaski, Georgia, a small community west of Savannah, who spent about a decade in professional rodeo riding bulls and saddle broncs before starting a consumer products company. The idea for flaminGO came when his phone and a friend's died at a Savannah bar and the bartender would not help. He sketched designs on napkins while baling hay, sourced parts through Alibaba, hired designers on Fiverr and went through four iterations. The result is a two-inch, pre-charged, rechargeable charger with a 3-in-1 tip for USB-C, Micro-USB and Lightning, in pink and teal colors that nod to Miami Vice.
After exhibiting at the PPAI promotional products expo, he landed seven orders worth more than $330,000 from buyers who brand the chargers with logos and QR codes for theme parks, festivals and colleges. On Shark Tank in Season 16 he asked for $100,000 for 20%. Kevin O'Leary called it one of the most entertaining pitches he had seen, and Barbara Corcoran invested $100,000 for 22%. flaminGO sells online and through custom wholesale orders.
