Who is Dave Heimbuch?

Dave Heimbuch founded Hidrent in 2018 after learning that his brother-in-law, a firefighter, did odd jobs on his days off. Firefighters typically work 24-hour shifts followed by 48 hours off, and many look for ways to supplement their income. Hidrent's app lets homeowners book vetted off-duty firefighters for tasks such as moving furniture, installing smoke detectors and general handyman work; firefighters set their own prices and Hidrent takes a service fee. Before Shark Tank the service operated in Phoenix and Tampa and had generated about $850,000 in revenue since launch.

Heimbuch pitched in Season 13 and closed on a $300,000 investment from Robert Herjavec and Lori Greiner. After the episode Hidrent passed $1 million in revenue, added phone booking for customers who prefer not to use an app, refreshed its branding and expanded market by market, including Grand Rapids, Michigan. The company now books firefighter helpers in markets across the country, and it checks employment to ensure only verified firefighters join the network.
