Who is Ilana Karcinski?
Ilana Karcinski (also listed as Ilana Mobley-Karcinski) co-founded FairyTail Pet Care with her friend Kelly Nova. The two came up with the business while working at a hotel in Tampa, where they watched couples try to work out what to do with their pets on the wedding day. Their service provides attendants who pick up a couple's pets, keep them cared for through the event and bring them into the ceremony and photos, then take them home. Starting around 2015 in the Tampa Bay area, the founders grew the business to $123,000 in 2022 sales from the Tampa headquarters and began franchising, opening territories in cities including West Palm Beach, Las Vegas and Pittsburgh.
Karcinski and Nova pitched on Shark Tank Season 15, seeking $75,000 for 10%. They agreed to Barbara Corcoran's offer of $75,000 for 22%, though a May 2024 update found no confirmation that the deal had closed. The company now serves weddings in six markets and continues to recruit franchisees.
