Who is Jennifer Stein-Bischoff?
Jennifer Stein-Bischoff spent about two decades as an apparel designer before starting her own company, creating pieces for brands including Gloria Vanderbilt and Tommy Hilfiger. The idea for Supermix Studio came during the pandemic, when she noticed how much more confident her own children were when they chose what to wear. She built the business around kids' jackets and hoodies that come with swappable, proprietary patches, so children can design and redesign their own clothes, a model she has likened to a Build-a-Bear for apparel. On Shark Tank in Season 15, she asked for $250,000 for 10% of the company, reported about $110,000 in sales for the year, and described plans for retail kiosks, including talks with Claire's.
Lori Greiner and Robert Herjavec teamed up on an offer of $250,000 for 20% plus a royalty, which she accepted even though Mark Cuban called it a bad deal. Later reporting found no public confirmation that the deal closed. Supermix Studio continues to sell its customizable kids' apparel and patches through its website.
