Who is Taylor Capuano?
Taylor Capuano is co-founder and chief creative officer of CAKES Body, the bra-alternative brand she built with her twin sister, Casey Sarai. Raised in the Albany, New York, area and a graduate of Bethlehem High School, she spent about ten years in corporate marketing, most recently as a marketing manager at the apparel brand Life Is Good. In 2022, with both sisters facing possible layoffs, they launched CAKES as a side hustle with $10,000 of their own savings and an order of 500 reusable silicone nipple covers. A TikTok video went viral, sales jumped from a few hundred units a month to hundreds a minute, and the company topped $1 million in its first year with no outside funding or ad budget.
On Shark Tank in Season 15 the sisters asked for $300,000 for 5% and closed at $300,000 for 10% with Emma Grede. Capuano has called working with Grede surreal. CAKES Body has since added apparel and wider bra alternatives, reported $95 million in net sales for the fiscal year ended June 2025, and entered Ulta Beauty stores.
