Who is Scott Brown?

Scott Brown is a toy and game developer based in Alpine, Utah. Through his industry contacts he came across PaddleSmash, a backyard game invented by Joe Bingham, a father of seven in Pleasant View, Utah, who wanted something his whole family could play together that was easier than Spikeball. The game puts pickleball-style paddles and balls on a small round trampoline net for two teams of two. Brown partnered with Nashville's Tim Swindle to commercialize it, and PaddleSmash launched in October 2022.

It reached Dick's Sporting Goods, Scheels and Academy Sports + Outdoors and finished 2023 with nearly $2 million in revenue. Brown and Swindle filmed their Shark Tank pitch in June 2023 for an episode that aired that October 20, asking $250,000 for 10%. On air they accepted $250,000 for 20% from Mark Cuban and Robert Herjavec, though Utah's Standard-Examiner later reported that the founders declined the deal after reviewing the contract terms. The broadcast still drove a wave of orders, and the game has since been featured on Good Morning America, the Today show and The View.
