Who is Tim Swindle?
Tim Swindle, of Nashville, Tennessee, co-founded PaddleSmash with Utah toy and game developer Scott Brown. The game, invented by Utah father Joe Bingham as a family-friendly alternative to Spikeball, combines pickleball paddles and balls with a small trampoline-style net for teams of two. After the partners licensed and developed it for retail, PaddleSmash launched in October 2022 and quickly landed at Dick's Sporting Goods, Scheels and Academy Sports + Outdoors, bringing in nearly $2 million by the end of 2023. Swindle and Brown pitched on Shark Tank Season 15 in an episode that aired October 20, 2023.
They asked $250,000 for 10% and, after negotiation, accepted $250,000 for 20% from Mark Cuban and Robert Herjavec. The Standard-Examiner later reported that the founders declined the deal after reviewing contract terms. The national exposure brought a surge of sales during the broadcast, and PaddleSmash went on to appear on Good Morning America, the Today show and The View as the game expanded its retail and online reach.
