Who is Zach Sankar?
Zach Sankar is chief operating officer of 1920, the Atlanta convertible-clothing brand founded by his wife, Ashley Sankar; the two were high school sweethearts. He holds a master of science from the Florida Institute of Technology, worked at W Hotels, and at the time of the couple's Shark Tank pitch was a revenue management operations specialist at Delta Air Lines, running 1920 alongside his full-time job. The brand, founded in 2018, makes outerwear designed to convert between uses, most famously a jacket that turns into a tote bag. A late-2022 TikTok video of the jacket went viral and brought in about $78,000 in sales in one month, and the company reached roughly $505,000 in lifetime sales.
On Shark Tank in Season 16 the couple asked for $250,000 for 10% at a $2.5 million valuation. Robert Herjavec offered $250,000 for 25%, valuing the company at $1 million, and they accepted. Since the episode aired, 1920 has launched new items including a convertible skirt and a beanie.
